Ms. Collins received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder School of Law in 1979 and her Bachelor of Arts in History, Cum Laude, from Colorado State University in 1976.
Ms. Collins is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. She has been a member of the Board of Directors for various non-profit corporations and is a past member of the Judicial Nominating?Commission for the 8th Judicial District (Larimer County).
Ms. Collins is an active member of the International Trademark Association, the Intellectual Property Section of the Colorado Bar Association, and the Larimer County Bar Association.? Ms. Collins was a member of the legal team for the prevailing party in the trademark case Vail Associates, Inc. v. Vend Tel Co, Ltd. 516 F3d? 853 (10th Cir. 2008).? She has also practiced in the areas of business and real estate law in Fort Collins, Colorado, and has been a partner in various businesses and real estate development projects.
Ms. Collins? practice is focused on intellectual property law.? In particular, she practices in the areas of trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair competition and internet law. She helps clients identify, create, protect and enforce these intangible assets and maximize the return on investment in their intellectual property. She manages all aspects of trademark selection, clearance, registration and protection in the Unites States and internationally, for a variety of clients.? She also litigates trademark and copyright infringement actions in the U.S. District Court for Colorado and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and handles disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.? Ms. Collins helps clients develop a global trademark portfolio strategy and works with foreign trademark counsel in prosecuting international trademark applications.
In addition Ms. Collins counsels clients on trade dress, product configuration, trade secret and copyright protection, as well as domain name strategies and dispute resolution.
