Maqdah says assassinations in Ain Al-Hilweh serve Israel

The local Fatah commander in the Ain Al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp, Mounir al-Maqdah,? told NOW Lebanon that Israel is the ?only? group taking advantage of the assassinations that targeted two bodyguards of Mahmoud Abdel Hamid Issa, also known as "Al-Lino," who is the head of Fatah's police force in the camp.

?We will not allow what happened in the [Palestinian refugee camp] of Naher al-Bared [in North Lebanon] to occur in Ain al-Hilweh,? Maqdah said.

He continued, saying: ?Some institutions which claim to be serving the Palestinian people of implementing suspicious plans that are affiliated with the US.?

Ain al-Hilweh, the largest Palestinian camp in the country, is home to about 50,000 refugees and is known to harbor extremists and fugitives.

Palestinian factions clashed heavily on December 18 in Ain al-Hilweh after the bodyguard of a top Palestinian commander was shot dead.

On December 14, another Lino bodyguard was murdered by a masked gunman inside camp.
